Winter weddings hold a special place in our hearts here at Photo House because my wedding anniversary is January 25th! So anytime I'm asked to do a winter wedding I can't help but jump up and down, winters make for such beautiful photos and there is just something so romantic about the snow <3
I first connected with Dylan and Mariah shortly before their engagement in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We did a couples shoot at various locations downtown like Go Java Coffee, Rosa Parks Circle and the famous Grand Rapids Love Sculpture done by Robert Indiana. At that time you could see how much love they had for each other and that it was only a matter of time before the two were engaged!
When Dylan called a few months later to announce that they did in fact get engaged my heart sang with joy! Watching love stories like this unfold is so magical. We discussed wedding details and started planning for their January wedding.
Getting Ready Photos at Baker Lofts
On January 3rd I headed to Baker Lofts in Holland, MI to meet up with the beautiful bride! I really loved that the Bride and all her girls were able to be at one venue for the duration of the day. They started at Quinn Vise Hair Design & CO. a beautiful hair salon located just inside Baker Lofts. The bridal party was able to bounce between the salon back to their bridal suite for refreshments and quiet time which was really nice for everyone.
While I was with Mariah and her bridesmaids getting ready my second shooter was at a quiet Air B&B capturing Dylan and the groomsmen putting on the finishing touches.
First Looks at Baker Lofts Events
There is something so special about a first look for the brides father. I love capturing the emotions and excitement during this time of day!
The first look between Mariah and Dylan was pretty unique and had lots of building anticipation. Mariah had to walk through the building and up a flight of stairs before she saw her soon to be husband. I love having a second shooter for shots like this so we can capture both the bride and the grooms reactions. Once the first look was completed the bridal party joined us for photos throughout the building and outside in the Bridal Lofts courtyard.
Reception Photos at Baker Lofts Events
Immediately after the ceremony Dylan and Mariah took a quick break to sign their marriage license and took a few last formal photos with us while cocktails and a light Hors d'oeuvres were served to the guests. Once the bridal party was back and seated Mariah's sister and Maid of Honor kicked the evening off with a beautiful toast with multiple toasts and singing to follow from the groomsmen.
Dylan and Mariah's wedding at Baker Lofts was a really incredible day, filled with lots of emotions, beautiful toasts and dancing! I want give a big shout out and thank you to Dylan and Mariah for trusting me to capture their very sweet special day.
